I love super easy and healthy dinners, which is why I’ve started making Air Fryer Salmon Bites a regular part of our family’s weeknight dinner rotation.

For starters, salmon is loaded with health benefits. It’s a great source of high quality protein and is full of nutrient rich omega 3 Fatty Acids, which promotes heart and brain health.

Salmon is also full of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which helps decrease inflammation. It’s honestly ones of the healthiest things you can eat!

Making salmon bites in the air fryer is a great way to get a healthy dinner on the table, with minimal prep and ingredients, and super flavorful results. They only require 6-8 minutes of cooking time in the air fryer, and taste delicious served with a creamy sauce made from a little mayo and sriracha.

Tips and Notes

  • Use skinless salmon. It is much easier to make salmon bites in the air fryer with skinless salmon, and that is what I recommend using for this recipe. If you are using salmon with the skin-on, you can remove it with a sharp knife, or leave it on and remove it after cooking.
  • What type of salmon to use: fresh or thawed frozen wild salmon or Atlantic salmon both work great. If using thawed salmon, make sure to thoroughly pat your salmon fillets dry with paper towels for best results.
  • For a gluten free option, use coconut aminos in place of the soy sauce.
  • Use cooking spray. In order to prevent sticking and ensure a crisp texture, lightly spray air fryer basket with nonstick spray or brush it with a small amount of oil.
  • Make a simple dipping sauce. Cooked salmon bites taste delicious on their own, but if you have a few minutes to prepare a spicy mayo for dipping I recommend it! All you need to do is mix 1/4 cup of mayonnaise with two teaspoons of sriracha hot sauce in a small bowl. You can also add 1-2 Tablespoons of water to make your spicy sauce more pourable.
  • Don’t crowd the basket. Make sure to leave room around your salmon pieces so that they can cook evenly and get crispy. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you will probably need to cook your salmon in batches to ensure even cooking in the air fryer.
  • Preheat your air fryer. I like to preheat my air fryer for a few minutes before adding the food. This ensures that the proper temperature has been reached and that your air fryer salmon bites will cook up crispy and juicy.
  • Don’t overcook your salmon. All air fryers cook differently, so your cook time may vary. You can check for doneness by using a fork to gently flake the salmon. It should be opaque and easily flaked, but still moist in the center. You can also check your salmon with a meat thermometer; the internal temperature should be 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Top your delicious seasoned salmon bites with chopped green onions, parsley, or sesame seeds for the finishing touch.
  • Storing and reheating: Any leftover salmon bites can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
