Ingredients

  • 7-9 pound boneless ham precooked and sliced
  • 1/2 cup + 2 Tablespoons orange juice divided
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • Orange slices and fresh rosemary sprigs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Adjust your oven rack to the lower third of your oven. Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Line a large baking dish or roasting pan with aluminum foil. Remove the packaging from the ham and place the ham inside of the foil.
  • Baste the ham all over with the 2 tablespoons of orange juice. Cover the ham with the aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 10- 12 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature has reached 145 degrees.
  • While the ham is baking, make the glaze. In a medium sized sauce pan, heat the rest of the orange juice, brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger over medium low heat. Stir well.
  • Continue stirring until the mixture has begun to boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for a few minutes until the liquid has slightly thickened and become caramelized.
  • During the last 30 minutes of baking time, remove the ham from the oven. Increase the temperature to 400 degrees. Baste the ham with the brown sugar glaze, then return it to the 400 degree oven and bake for about 30 more minutes, basting once more halfway through the cooking time. **Watch carefully, as you do not want the glaze to burn in the oven.**
  • Remove the ham from the oven and baste as desired. Serve warm with orange slices and fresh rosemary sprigs as garnish.

Notes

  • Cover with Foil. Make sure to use a tent of foil on your maple glazed ham as it bakes. This will help keep it juicy and prevent it from drying out.
  • Let it rest. Allow your ham to rest in the pan once you take it out of the oven for at least 15 minutes before cutting and serving.
  • How long to cook: A precooked ham just needs to be reheated, so bake until it reaches 145 degrees according to a meat thermometer. This usually takes about 10-12 minutes per pound of ham when cooked in a 325 degree oven.
  • Storing: Store any leftover ham in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
  • Freezing: Leftover fully cooked ham can be frozen in an airtight container or freezer ziplock bag for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight before serving.
