These Air Fried Apples are mouthwatering good! They are coated in a cinnamon and brown sugar glaze and ready in under 10 minutes in the air fryer. They taste heavenly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!
Core and peel the apples, then cut them into 1-inch chunks.
In a large bowl, toss the apple chunks with the melted coconut oil. Add the ground cinnamon, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Toss until the apple chunks are evenly coated.
Arrange the apple chunks in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overlapping. Cook for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even crisping.
Check the apples for desired tenderness. If you prefer softer apples, you can cook them for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Serve warm on their own, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
Notes
The best apples for this recipe include a variety like Granny Smith, Honey crisp, Gala, Fuji, Pink Lady, or Golden Delicious apples. Honeycrisp apples are my favorite, and that's usually what I pick if I'm not using a variety.
Oil substitutions: feel free to use melted butter or another neutral oil like canola oil for coating the apples.
Store any leftover fried apples in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to four days.
Reheat leftoverapples using the air fryer (my preferred method) or in the microwave.
Switch up the spices: try using pumpkin pie spice or apple pie spice in place of the cinnamon. Yum!
