Christmas Crack Recipe (Ritz Cracker Toffee)

Print Recipe
This Christmas Crack Recipe is one of my favorite holiday treats! Ritz crackers are coated in an easy homemade caramel sauce then topped with melted chocolate and holiday sprinkles. This is perfect for gifting and is always one of the first desserts to disappear when I make it for Christmas parties. I always get asked for the recipe; so here it is!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter 2 sticks
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 sleeves Ritz crackers
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • sprinkles for decorating

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a large sheet pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper that overlaps the sides. Spray with nonstick cooking spray then spread the Ritz crackers out in an even layer on the prepared pan.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar together. Bring to a boil and cook for three minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Spread the caramel sauce over the crackers using a spatula for even coverage.
  • Bake for 5 minutes then remove from the oven. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top then return to the oven for 2 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and spread the chocolate evenly with a spatula. Immediately add the sprinkles.
  • Allow the toffee to cool completely then transfer the pan to the fridge for at least 30 minutes. Remove from the fridge and break into large chunks. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Substitutions: You can use saltine crackers instead of Ritz crackers if you prefer. Spread them out in a single layer on your cookie sheet just like the recipe states for the Ritz crackers.
  • Store your Christmas Crack in an airtight container for up to four days. I store mine at room temperature on the counter, but you can also keep it in the fridge.
  • Freezing Instructions: This is the perfect recipe to freeze for later! Prepare your Christmas Crack as directed then place chunks into a freezer safe ziplock bag or other freezer safe container. Freeze for up to six months. Thaw overnight in the fridge or on the counter top before enjoying.
  • Serving Suggestions: This Christmas Crack is perfect for a hot chocolate bar! I love to serve it alongside my super rich Polar Express Hot Chocolate (the most amazing hot chocolate ever) along with some Molasses Crinkle Cookies or Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies.
