Oh how I love a Chick-fil-a Frosted Lemonade. It’s one of my favorite treats to enjoy when I’m out and about with my kids on a hot day.

If you’ve never had one before, it’s a combination of freshly squeezed lemonade and Chick-fil-a’s signature Ice Dream frozen yogurt. When put together it creates a tart, yet sweet and slurplable milkshake called a Frosted Lemonade. It’s a little cup of heaven in the summer time!

Since Chick-fil-a’s version is seasonal and only available in the summer months, I knew I wanted to share a recipe with you to make at home year round!

It’s so easy (only 4 ingredients!) Plus you don’t have to visit a busy (yet always well run, it seems!) drive thru, or worry about Chick-fil-a being closed on Sunday when the craving hits!

How to Make a Copycat Chick-fil-a Frosted Lemonade

Step 1: Make the Lemon Simple Syrup

Place the sugar, lemon juice, and water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until the sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes.

Step 2: Cool the syrup

Remove the pan from the heat and let it cool to room temperature, about 10 minutes. Place the pan in the fridge for 30 minutes to chill slightly.

Step 3: Blend

Place the ice cream into a large blender and add the cooled lemon simple syrup. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.

Chick-fil-a Frosted Lemonade – Tips and Notes

  • Use fresh lemons. For the best and freshest flavor, use juice from fresh lemons and not bottled lemon juice. It really makes a difference!
  • Substitute prepared lemonade. If you’re out of lemons or just need a quick shortcut, you can substitute the lemon simple syrup with a store bought lemonade. I like Simply Lemonade which is in the refrigerated section near the orange juice. Use 1 to 1 1/2 cups of lemonade in place of the simple syrup.
  • Make it boozy. For a grown-up Chick-fil-a Frosted Lemonade, add a couple shots of vodka or white rum to the blender when adding your other ingredients. Yum!
  • Make a frosted limeade. Follow all of the same steps but use fresh limes in place of the lemons for a frosted limeade!

FAQs

How can I make a dairy free frosted lemonade?

For a dairy free alternative, simply swap the vanilla ice cream with your favorite dairy free version. I like Oatly which is made with oat milk, or So Delicious which is made with coconut milk.

Can I make this in advance?

The lemon simple syrup can be made in advance and stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Once you have it ready to go, it’s easy to pull out to make your Chick-fil-a Frosted Lemonade whenever the mood strikes!
