Egg-free, Dairy-free Chocolate Cake
This Egg-free, Dairy-free Chocolate Cake is a dream come true for people with egg and milk allergies. Moist and delicious, you’ll never know it’s allergy-friendly!
(This post lovingly shared by Melissa of Ice Cream Inspiration)
My oldest daughter is allergic to everything. And I mean everything. Wheat, milk, eggs, tree nuts and peanuts. As you can imagine, it is difficult to feed this child. I am always on the lookout for allergy-friendly foods.
Do you have allergies or food intolerances, too? If you are gluten-free, I’m afraid this recipe won’t help you. But if you are dairy and egg-free, then this is just the ticket! (This recipe may work with gluten-free flour, but I have never tried it).
I must tell you that I am not a cake lover. If I am going to appease a sugar craving, I am going to do it with cookies or brownies–not with cake. But this cake is different. I actually like it better than any other cake I have made–especially the boxed cake mixes.
What’s the secret to this cake? Hot water. I know it seems strange, but it totally works! The cake is dense and delicious. Just top it with some chocolate frosting or a dusting of powdered sugar and you have a fantastic cake for any occasion.
The next time you have to make a cake but are out of eggs, no need to run to the store! This recipe has you covered!

I love this cake, its my go to whenever anyone wants chocolate cake. It’s so moist and extremely easy to make. Love it
This cake is delicious!! ย
Would I be able to substitute almond flour for regular flour next time I make it? ย Please lmk.ย
I have not tried it with almond flour before, but I think it should work just fine.
So my son has severe dairy and egg allergies. He was going to a classmates bday party and I made the mother aware of his allergies. She made this whole cake for him and it wasnโt even his party. I am a baker. And I only bake vegan things. This is hands down one of the best chocolate cakes Iโve ever had! I mean it is absolutely the moistness for me! Thank you for sharing this deliciousness with us. It is now my new chocolate cake recipe!!
This cake is awesome. ย Canโt stop eating it. ย Next time, I will make in my Bundt pan to see how it turns out. ย I recently had to give up dairy and eggs (and bananas). ย This cake is easier to make than a traditional cake. ย No need to let butter and eggs come to room temp. ย Make in one bowl – very quick. ย The texture is wonderful – much lighter than normal chocolate cake..
Can I use gluten free flour in this recipe??
Yes!
I have made this cake many times for my 5 yr old grandson who is allergic to egg, milk, butter etc. Every birthday he wants this cake. This past weekend he had a severe allergic reaction and all he wanted was his chocolate cake. This is how good this cake is moist flavorful and definitely tasty. Itโs also easy to make.
Delicious!! Now I’m stuck bringing the cake to all the family functions because everyone loves it! I use melted, refined coconut oil. There is no taste or smell except yummyness!
I have made this over and over and comes out ahhhmmmmmazing each and every time without fail! You will not disappoint with this one! Blessings and thanks for sharing!

โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ Five stars !!!!
Have you ever tried to freeze the cake ahead of time before frosting it? And if so, was the cake still moist with a good texture? Or do you have to make the cake and consume it the same day for best results?
I never knew you could have an egg-free cake. I am definitely going to have to try this soon. This chocolate cake looks so good!
Finally, a chocolate cake I can eat! I so need to make this tonight. Yum!
I have a recipe that is almost identical to this, so I can attest to this being an amazing chocolate cake!
It looks so soft! I definitely would love to try it, I can’t believe it doesn’t contain eggs or milk
Has anyone done a UK conversion to ounces and ml for the ingredients? I made this the other day and the centre of the cake was only partially bake and it did not rise correctly. Thanks for any help/advice.
ย I was so excited and baked it today and the centre of the cake was only partially bake and it did not rise correctly as well.ย I tried covering it with a foil and putting it back to the oven another 10-15 minutes and it kind off worked but I am yet not happy with it.
This is just perfect.. the only downside is we need to consume the cake early since the oil smell might overpower.. but i cooked it thrice and all the time this was a delight..
