Banana bread has always been one of my favorite snacks, and is one that my kids love to eat, too.
I buy bananas a lot because they are healthy, easily portable when you’re on the run, and delicious. But sometimes they get too ripe before we are able to enjoy them. When this happens, I like to make One Bowl Banana Bread.
That’s right, I said ONE BOWL!
All of the ingredients are mixed together in one large bowl, then baked in either a large loaf pan or into muffins. This is the perfect banana bread recipe because it’s simple, and did I mention how easy the clean-up is? One bowl!

One Bowl Banana Bread – Tips and Notes
- Use very ripe bananas. For the best flavor, use ripe bananas that are very soft and have plenty of black or brown spots. This will add natural sweetness and moisture to your banana bread. The riper the bananas, the better!
- Sugar substitute: you can sub brown sugar or raw sugar for the sweetener in this recipe.
- Use room temperature eggs. This will help your ingredients to incorporate smoothly. If you haven’t had time to let your eggs come to room temperature, simply place them in a bowl of warm water for five minutes before adding to the batter.
- Don’t overmix. To prevent your banana bread from becoming too dense or rubbery, mix your ingredients until everything is just combined and no more.
- Change up the flavor. You can easily add different flavorings to your one bowl banana bread. Add-ins like chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, peanut butter chips, chopped nuts, or dried or fresh fruit would all add great flavor. 1/2 – 3/4 cup of any of these would be a great place to start.
- Make them into muffins. You can make this One Bowl Banana Bread into muffins instead of a loaf if you prefer. Fill muffin cups 2/3 of the way full then bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes.
How to Store Banana Bread
Store any leftover banana bread in an airtight container on the counter for up to 4 days.
How to Freeze Banana Bread
Banana bread is perfect for freezing for later use. Wrap the loaf tightly in plastic wrap before storing in a freezer ziplock bag or other freezer safe container. Freeze for up to 6 months. Place your banana bread on the counter to thaw for a few hours before serving.

This recipe is a home run! Super easy to make and an absolute delight!
MmmMMM! Nothing is better than really good banana bread. Except when it’s this easy!
This turned out way better than I thought since I kind of messed up the order! ย I ย added the dry ingredients before the eggs ๐ฑ and the 3 bananas I had only yielded 1 ย and 1/4 cups of mashed, not 2. So I decreased the amounts of everything else, and threw in some chopped walnuts for good measure, ย not holding out much hope. ย But it turned just as good as any other banana bread recipe, I thought! Iโve already eaten half the loaf that I just made last night. ๐. Really good recipe. ย Next time Iโll follow the directions too! It should be amazing! Thank you! โค๏ธ
