Crockpot Cinnamon Applesauce Recipe
Crockpot Cinnamon Applesauce – homemade applesauce is super easy to make in your slow cooker, and only requires four simple ingredients! This is the perfect snack or treat, and tastes amazing when it’s warm!
Today’s recipe is coming to you by request of my five year old, thanks to all of the fun apple activities she’s been doing the past couple of weeks in Kindergarten.
Last week her class made applesauce, and she loved it so much she came home begging for us to do the same. So this weekend, that’s just what we did!
It’s been a long time since I’ve made homemade applesauce, and after making it this past Saturday, I can’t believe I’ve waited so long make it again!
In fact, the last time I remember making crockpot applesauce was when I was teaching my own kinder class about six years ago!
I’m pretty sure I’ve made it at some point since then, but let me tell you this; my house smelled amazing on Saturday, and eating a bowl of this yummy cinnamon-y apple goodness was such a treat!
I’m definitely going to be making this crockpot cinnamon applesauce a lot more often now!
This recipe is crazy easy, too. You just stir everything together and then let the magic happen.
When it’s all done cooking, I just stir mine up with a wire whisk or spoon. The apples fall apart easily and you’re left with a crockpot full of sweet and delicious homemade applesauce!
Oh, and this tastes AMAZING warm! I highly recommend eating it that way (though not steaming hot), but you can also let it cool and store in the refrigerator for later.
This crockpot applesauce makes about 6 servings around 1/2 cup each, which is perfect for our family to eat over a few days time. You can definitely double this recipe if you’d like to make more applesauce, though!

Ingredients
- 3 pounds apples, peeled, cored and sliced, (about 6 medium apples/I use Gala)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Place the peeled, sliced apples into the bowl of your crockpot. Sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon over the apples and mix well. Pour the water into the crockpot and place the lid on top. Cook over high heat for four hours.
- When cooking time is up, remove the lid and mix the apples using a wire whisk, stirring until smooth, or until desired consistency is reached. This applesauce tastes delicious warm!
- To store, allow the applesauce to cool completely then place in a sealed container in the fridge. Enjoy!
Making this in my 1st grade class tomorrow! We’ve been studying apples/plant life cycle. Can’t wait to smell it!!
I always use Gala apples as well, but NEVER add any sugar. I don’t even peel them. They are sweet enough. I put 2 cinnamon sticks in the bottom of my oval slow cooker and use a countertop apple slicer for even slices. A 1/2 cup of water and HIGH for 4 hours. When done, get the cinnamon sticks out and I use an immerision blender to make the apple sauce the consistency we like. Never buy applesauce again!
Delicious. I cut the sugar a bit. QUESTION – With electric rates going up, does it make sense to cook this in a crockpot on high for 4 hours when you can make it in the microwave in under 20 minutes? I just made it in the micro and it was equally delicious!
That’s a great question, although I’m not sure on the answer! I think it’s great you can make it in the microwave too, though, thank you for sharing that tip.
Trying this recipe tonight. Putting in the slow cooker on low for 8-9 hours. Hopefully, it will turn out ok. I figured if the recipe says high for 4 hours then I should be able to cook on low for 8-9. We shall see! I’ve never made applesauce but love using my slow cooker.
Made this today & definitely worth the ☆☆☆☆☆ rating. The recipe was simple. Loved that I could make it in my slow cooker & although I’ve never made applesauce before, I have purchased some in the past, and I didn’t want a ‘marmalade’ consistency. This was on the ‘runny’ side when it was done, wetter, which I wanted. Also, just the right amount of sweetness. Perfection!
Want to go out & buy more apples asap!
Thank you!
I love this recipe and swapped out half the Gala’s for Honeycrisp’s, increased the cinnamon to a full teaspoon, and decreased the sugar to a quarter cup. It came out so yummy.
If I wanted to make a quadruple batch, would I need to increase the water amount in the pot?
I only ask because my mom loves it to the point that even a double batch is jarred that night and devoured by her in a week, leaving me with none, lol.
Hi Seth! So glad to hear your mom is enjoying it! Yes, be sure to quadruple the water along with the other ingredients, too.
Fantastic! I even added a little more cinnamon bc I love it. I doubled the recipe trying to use up apples but kept the amount of sugar the same and it is still plenty sweet.
I always replace the water with apple cider. Yum!!!!
This is an amazing recipe! If I wanted to double (or even triple) it, how should I adjust the cook time?
Hi Catie, the cook time should be roughly the same even if you double or triple it.
Apple cinnamon applesauce is one of my favorites! I love how easy it’s to make in the crockpot!
This is the easiest homemade applesauce. It’s the perfect side dish for grilled pork chops.
This looks so tasty!! I need to make this. I LOVE apple sauce
Can you can this in a hot water bath?
Yes you can definitely can this!
I have been using my crockpot so much more lately, but have never used it to make applesauce. Thanks for the recipe!
Perfect! I love this! My husband thought it was okay but I thought it was sooo good. Thank you so much for this recipe! I quadrupled the recipe to fit my six m-quart crockpot. Mine was a little chunky but I like it that way. If you want it smooth and want to expand the recipe, definitely cook it longer.
Thanks for your response I was wondering how many times to repeat the receipt in order to fill my crock pot. I have 6 bags of apples 🙂
I think the next time I would cut back on the sugar. Delicious & I love the texture. Enjoyable while warm!
I’ve made crockpot applesauce like this for several years. If you use sweet enough apples such as galas, you don’t need to add any sugar! It’s the extra healthy version!! 😋
recommended by a friend to do this recipe, sooo simple and easy and tastes good! Thank you
Looks delicious! Plan on making this tomorrow and going to can it. I am goieng to triple the recipe how much water would I use would it be the same?
Hi Angie, if you triple the recipe it would be 1 1/2 cups of water. Enjoy!
Made this last week and my husband and 2 little boys loved it going to make a double batch tomorrow so I can put some away in the freezer for later!
