Crockpot Cinnamon Applesauce Recipe
Crockpot Cinnamon Applesauce – homemade applesauce is super easy to make in your slow cooker, and only requires four simple ingredients! This is the perfect snack or treat, and tastes amazing when it’s warm!
Today’s recipe is coming to you by request of my five year old, thanks to all of the fun apple activities she’s been doing the past couple of weeks in Kindergarten.
Last week her class made applesauce, and she loved it so much she came home begging for us to do the same. So this weekend, that’s just what we did!
It’s been a long time since I’ve made homemade applesauce, and after making it this past Saturday, I can’t believe I’ve waited so long make it again!
In fact, the last time I remember making crockpot applesauce was when I was teaching my own kinder class about six years ago!
I’m pretty sure I’ve made it at some point since then, but let me tell you this; my house smelled amazing on Saturday, and eating a bowl of this yummy cinnamon-y apple goodness was such a treat!
I’m definitely going to be making this crockpot cinnamon applesauce a lot more often now!
This recipe is crazy easy, too. You just stir everything together and then let the magic happen.
When it’s all done cooking, I just stir mine up with a wire whisk or spoon. The apples fall apart easily and you’re left with a crockpot full of sweet and delicious homemade applesauce!
Oh, and this tastes AMAZING warm! I highly recommend eating it that way (though not steaming hot), but you can also let it cool and store in the refrigerator for later.
This crockpot applesauce makes about 6 servings around 1/2 cup each, which is perfect for our family to eat over a few days time. You can definitely double this recipe if you’d like to make more applesauce, though!

- Place the peeled, sliced apples into the bowl of your crockpot. Sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon over the apples and mix well. Pour the water into the crockpot and place the lid on top. Cook over high heat for four hours.
- When cooking time is up, remove the lid and mix the apples using a wire whisk, stirring until smooth, or until desired consistency is reached. This applesauce tastes delicious warm!
- To store, allow the applesauce to cool completely then place in a sealed container in the fridge. Enjoy!
Excellent, delicious and so easy to make. I used 7 Gala medium-large apples and next time will add one more apple since it cooks down quite a bit.
I made this and it was delicious. I could have eaten the whole batch.
This is so so good! Loved the simple ingredients and how easy it was to make. Tripled the batch and it JUST fit in my crockpot. Cooked on high 6 hours since it was so packed full but ended up with four 2-cup servings to freeze and two to eat! I will definitely be make a couple more large batches to have for winter. Thank you for sharing this recipe is a keeper!!
This is delicious! Wish we had an endless supply of apples so I could keep making it over and over! Every batch I make is gone in one day! Love! I used McIntosh apples mostly.
Made this Sunday husband loved it so making some more today
Could I make this the night before then rewarm it in the crockpot? Does it get too mushy? I want to bring it to work warm
That would work just fine!
OMG this was DELICIOUS! So easy to make, and the absolute best flavor! I LOVE this warm, I will never make another recipe for applesauce, this one is the world’s best!
I homeschool my kids and we made this together as part of our school. Everyone loved it!
Just tried this and I am impressed! Can I can it?
Yes, you can definitely can it!
I just finished a big bowl of this yummy and oh so easy applesauce!! I think I used a bit more than 3 lbs. of apple and so it was not too sweet…just right. On high this only took 2 1/2 hours in the crockpot. Will make this again and thank you sooo very much!!!
Absolutely delicious! Comfort food indeed.
Made this with my toddler she absolutely loved it super easy recipe and it tastes delicious!
Hello, I may have gotten too many apples this fall. I have used this recipe for years now and everyone loves the recipe. However, I have so many Cortland apples that I may have to preserve some through the winter. I was wondering if it would be wise to freeze the apple sauce to keep it longer?
Yes, freezing the applesauce would be a great idea. It freezes very well!
I made this yesterday. The only thing that I did different was to increase the cinnamon to 1 teaspoon. I love this recipe. I left a little texture in it. It’s delicious. I’m going to make a large batch and freeze it. As a bonus, your house smells wonderful while it’s cooking.
Made this today and it came out perfect. Prefer it a little less sweet so used 1/4C sugar for 4lbs of apples , 1/2C water and 1/2tsp cinnamon. Cooked on low for 8 hours. Used immersion blender when done to get the consistency out family prefers. Will make again for sure.
We made this exactly as directed and it was delicious. It was not overly sweet, and the kitchen smelled amazing.
I love this recipe. I do like to add an infuser with mulling spice and cook for longer lower temp.
absolutely phenomenal! easy to do and great results! beats the heck out of store bought
Tastes amazing!! I doubled the batch cuz I had so many apples. Now I would love to use this applesauce to make applesauce muffins. So going to give it a try.
Did it take longer to cook when doubled?
I ended up only cooking my apples for about 3 hours but they were still very tender. I don’t think you will need to double your time if you do multiple batches of apples at a time in your crockpot on high.
I doubled the recipe and only cooked the normal time.
It is always great, I have been making for 3 years now and it is always so good!!!!
It’s in the crockpot now! Super easy & smells so good!!
Thank you for the recipe! Its been a while since i made it in the crockpot. I usually make my applesauce with cinnamon red hot candies and can it. It’s quite wonderful.
I can’t wait!
This looks great! What size slow cooker did you use?
Hi Patti, it’s a 6 quart.
How long is it good for after it’s done?
