Being a Georgia girl, I absolutely love a ripe, juicy peach in the late summer time. Growing up, we had a grove of peach trees that grew right across the street from our house and I can still remember the sweet smell as we would zoom past them on our bikes in the hot summer months.

One of the best ways to highlight the natural sweetness of peaches is to bake them. Something truly magical happens when when you make roasted peaches with just a bit of butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt, creating a swoon-worthy caramelized texture and flavor.

How to Make Roasted Peaches – Step by Step

A full list of ingredients, measurements, and instructions are located in the recipe card below.

  1. Whisk dry ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Slice peaches in half and remove the pits. Place cut side up in a greased baking pan.
  3. Evenly spoon the brown sugar mixture over the top of the peaches. Top each with a Tablespoon of butter.
  4. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until peaches are tender.

Tips and Notes

  • Choose ripe peaches. Look for peaches that are ripe but still slightly firm. Overly ripe peaches might become mushy during baking, and you don’t want that to happen!
  • Halve and pit your peaches. Cut the peaches in half along the natural seam and gently twist them apart. Carefully remove the pits using a spoon or a knife and discard them.
  • Don’t over bake your peaches. Roasting time can vary depending on the size and ripeness of the peaches. Really large, less ripe peaches will take longer, while smaller, softer peaches will take less time. Check them after 10 minutes, and if they are fork tender and caramelized, they’re ready!
  • Serving suggestions: I love to enjoy my roasted peaches with a sprinkle of roasted pecans on top if I’m keeping it simple, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a truly delicious dessert! You could also top them with whipped cream or a dollop of Greek yogurt. And they of course taste incredible with no toppings at all!
  • Use your roasted peaches as a topping for pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, etc.
  • Make Grilled Peaches by heating your grill to medium heat. Add the peaches, cut side down, and grill until caramelized and tender, about 3-4 minutes. Flip and grill on the other side for 3-4 minutes. You can add the toppings right after the peaches come off the grill.
  • Make Air Fryer Peaches by placing peaches cut side up in an air fryer that has been preheated to 350 degrees fahrenheit. Roast for 5 minutes, then flip and top each peach cavity with the brown sugar mixture and butter. Roast for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Store any leftover peaches in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days.

FAQs

Can I use frozen peaches?

This recipe works best with fresh peaches for optimal flavor, but you could also use frozen peaches that have been thawed and drained first. Roasting frozen peaches that have not been thawed would create a lot of excess moisture, which would lend to very mushy roasted peaches. Because of that, I recommend using only fresh or properly thawed peaches for this recipe.

Can I leave the skin on the peaches?

Yes, I always leave the skin on when I make roasted peaches. It helps give the peaches structure as they are roasting.

What can I use in place of the brown sugar?

You could easily swap the brown sugar for honey or maple syrup as the sweetener for your roasted peaches.
