The air fryer has quickly become one of my most used kitchen tools. I love using it for simple things like heating up chicken nuggets and French fries for the kids, and even more for easy dinners that taste gourmet like these Air Fryer Steak Bites.
These steak bites start from a simple cut of sirloin that is well seasoned before hitting the air fryer, then they’re served with a buttery garlic sauce drizzled over the top. These taste delicious with a side of balsamic caramelized onions and roasted asparagus.
Can you cook steak in an air fryer?
Yes you most certainly can, and making air fryer steak bites is one way that I like to do it. Cutting your steak into small pieces makes the cook time faster, and allows the meat to get nice and crispy on the outside while remaining perfectly juicy on the inside.
Ingredients for Air Fryer Steak Bites
- sirloin steak
- olive oil
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- salt+ pepper
- butter
How to Make Air Fryer Steak Bites – Step by Step
Step 1: Preheat air fryer
Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes.
Step 2: Mix ingredients
In the meantime, stir the steak pieces, olive oil, 1 teaspoon of the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper together in a large bowl.
Step 3: Air fry
Add the steak bites to the air fryer basket and spread out evenly. Air fry at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 3 minutes. Toss the steak bites around, then fry again for 3 more minutes or until they reach your preferred doneness.
Step 4: Make garlic butter
Stir the melted butter and remaining ½ teaspoon of garlic powder together in a small bowl. Drizzle it on the steak bites before serving with freshly chopped parsley for garnish, if desired.
Tips and Notes
- Look for steaks with marbling. Nice marbling will lend to a deliciously juicy steak.
- Cut your steak into even size bites. To ensure balanced cooking in the air fryer, cut your steak bites into even pieces, about 1 inch each.
- Cook your air fryer steak bites in batches. For best results, don’t crowd your air fryer. If you’re cooking more than one or two steaks, be sure to cook in batches so that the steak bites cook evenly.
What cut of steak works best in the air fryer?
I used sirloin steak, but feel free to use whatever kind of steak you prefer. Ribeye and strip steaks would also be my picks for cooking in the air fryer. Depending on your steak’s thickness, you may need to add another minute or so if your steak is a thicker cut.

These came out better than I imagines. Defintely adding to our rotation.
I really liked this recipe. It was easy to make, and the steak came out wonderfully tender. I’ll be making it again.
Such an easy way to cook steak. Will make again!
These were really good and so easy to make in an air fryer. Perfect on busy weeknights!
Absolutely amazing and so easy!! I would not change anything about them. The first night we ate them with mashed potatoes, asparagus and brown sugar carrots. The leftovers were used to make steak quesadillas and my mouth still waters when I think about them!
I havent really figured out what to do my airfryer aside from french fries lol. I’ve got to try these steak bites!
This sounds delicious! I love my air fryer so I need to make this
This looks mouth-watering good. I love the addition of onion/garlic powders. This would be a great meal when I don’t have a lot of time to cook!
