Summer is starting to wind down, but I wanted to make sure to share these Nutella S’mores Bars with you before we roll into August. These are a wonderful treat to be enjoyed year-round, but it’s hard to debate the perfection of s’mores in the summer time!
My kids are big fans of anything marshmallow related, whether it’s a simple s’more made by the campfire, homemade rice krispie treats, or a bowl of cold, delicious Marshmallow Ice Cream.
These Nutella S’mores Bars feature marshmallow fluff, which is basically a creamy, frosting-esque version of marshmallows. If you’ve never had it before, you’re in for a treat!
What are S’mores?
A s’more is a delicious dessert sandwich made from three simple ingredients: graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate bars.
They are typically made over a fire pit or while camping, where you roast your marshmallow on a stick then place it between two graham cracker squares with a bar of chocolate. The result is a gooey, melty, treat! We also make them in the microwave all the time at my house!
There are lots of different recipes that play on the simplicity of yummy s’mores, and that’s what I did with these Nutella S’mores Bars!

Tips and Notes
How to Make Self-Rising Flour
Self rising flour is a bit different from all purpose flour. You can purchase it premixed at the store, or you can make it yourself at home if you don’t have any of the store-bought version.
For this recipe, simply whisk together 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour, 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon + 1/8 teaspoon salt and use as directed.
For other recipes that call for self rising flour: whisk together 1 cup all purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
How to Slice
The marshmallow creme can sometimes be a challenge to cut through because of its sticky composition. To remedy this, grab a sharp knife and run it under very hot water. Wipe off the excess liquid and slice. Clean off the knife and repeat for each additional cut. I like to use this method for cakes, too, for a nice clean cut!
How to Store
Once the bars are sliced, place them in an airtight container and store on the counter for up to five days.
CAN I FREEZE THESE Nutella S’mores Bars?
Yes! Prepare and slice as directed. Cover the bars tightly in a container with both plastic wrap and aluminum foil. Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw the bars overnight in the refrigerator before serving.
CAN THESE Nutella S’mores Bars BE MADE GLUTEN FREE?
Yes! In order to make these bars gluten free, first you will need to swap out the flour for your favorite gluten-free flour. I would recommend one of the blends from either Bob’s Red Mill or King Arthur Flour.
Secondly, you will want to use a gluten free graham cracker, like this one from Pamela’s available on Amazon. You could also try making your own homemade gluten free graham crackers.
