This No Bake Oreo Dessert recipe comes straight from my mom’s recipe box, and I have loved it and have been devouring it for as long as I can remember. The index card that it was written on is stain covered and written in my mom’s neat handwriting.
I absolutely LOVE those old recipe cards written by hand, and I cherish them just as much as I do the recipe itself. I have a handful from my mom, grandma, and my sister, and they will always be extra special to me.
We grew up eating this amazing dessert when we were kids, and now I make it for my own family, too. It’s made with simple ingredients and is the perfect dessert for Oreo lovers!
It’s kind of like a dessert lasagna made with a cream cheese layer, a chocolate pudding layer, cool whip, and an Oreo cookie crust. It’s a delicious dessert for the summer time, too, because it’s a NO BAKE recipe!
Ingredients for No Bake Oreo Pudding Dessert
- Oreo cookies – You will need about 48 regular Oreos in all for the crust, filling, and topping. This equates to one family sized package for the whole recipe.
- Butter – I recommend using unsalted butter. You will melt it and use it for the crust.
- Cream cheese – Use brick style cream cheese that has been softened to room temperature.
- Powdered Sugar – You will mix this together with the cream cheese and whipped topping to create a delicious creamy filling.
- Whipped topping – One thawed 8-ounce package of Cool Whip will be used in the cream cheese filling and for the top layer.
- Chocolate pudding mix – You will need two (3.1 ounce) packages of instant pudding mix.
- Milk – I recommend using whole or 2% milk for maximum creaminess, but you can use whatever kind of milk you prefer. I have not tried this with alternative dairy-free milks, however, so I can’t attest to how well the pudding will set up.
How to Make No Bake Oreo Layer Dessert – Step by Step
Step 1: Crush Oreo cookies in a large, resealable zip top bag with a meat mallet or rolling pin. (You could also crush them using your blender or food processor.) Combine the Oreo crumbs and melted butter in a bowl, mixing until combined. Press mixture into the bottom of a greased 13×9 inch baking pan. Place in the refrigerator to chill while you make the next layer.
Step 2: In a large bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar with an electric mixer until smooth. Fold in 1 cup of the whipped topping, then spread over the chilled crust.
Step 3: In a medium sized bowl, mix together the pudding mixes with the cold milk, then stir in the chopped Oreos. Allow to set just slightly, about 2-3 minutes, then spread over the top of the cream cheese layer.
Step 4: Spread the rest of the container of whipped topping over the pudding mixture. Chill the dessert in the refrigerator for at least two hours. Top with more crushed Oreos before serving.
Tips and Notes
- Toppings: I like to top my Oreo dessert with crushed Oreos or even chunks of Oreos. I’ve also sprinkled it with mini chocolate chips or chocolate sprinkles then drizzled with a little hot fudge when serving for the ultimate chocolate dessert!
- Use homemade whipped cream instead of Cool Whip. It’s super easy to make, and is what I use to top my Coca Cola Chocolate Cherry Cupcakes.
- Make it into a trifle or mini size cups: You can layer the cheesecake filling, pudding layers, and whipped cream in a large trifle bowl instead of preparing it in a 9×13 inch pan if you would prefer. You can also serve these in individual cups like I do with my Pumpkin Pie in a Cup or Easter Dirt Cake Cups!
- Allow your No Bake Oreo Dessert to chill in the fridge for at least 2-4 hours for best results. It needs time to set up and get nice and cold before you serve it!
- Prepare up to 1 day in advance. This can be made up to one day in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
- Storing leftovers. Any leftovers can be stored in the fridge covered with plastic wrap.

I made this the other day for a dinner party and everyone loved it!
This is so good, and most importantly super easy to prepare. If you need to bake something for a party, make this. You won’t regret it. ๐
I’ve been craving a good dessert that would wow me for a long time. I think I’ve finally found it – yum!
I made this today, it is very good!
We have a family recipe very similar to this but with coconut instead of oreos. I can’t wait to make this for my family. My aunt will be shocked.
I love the sound of this recipe, and I know my family will too!
This looks absolutely amazing! Have you ever tried to freeze it? Does it get soupy if kept for too long? I want to make this for a trip to the lake and need to transport it in a cooler.
Thanks!!
Hi Jill! I’ve never frozen this before so I can’t say how it would do, but it will be fine transported in your cooler. I would just hold off on the Oreos for topping until right before you serve it otherwise they might get soggy.
Oh my, this looks dangerous! I wouldn’t be able to stop eating this. Someone save me!!
WOW can I just say how incredible this looks!!! Just amazing and delicious!! indeed scrumptious
Oh! My! I need to make this oreo sweet treat!!! What a great summer party dessert! Printing this and making asap!!

Hi Ashlyn, Can I use cooked pudding instead of instant pudding in the recipe ? Thank you!
Hi Kristy, I haven’t tried it with cooked pudding before so I’m not sure how it would turn out!
this is absolutely INCREDIBLE!
This is perfect for my church dinners! They love oreo desserts and ask for that eclair cake all the time. This will be a nice switch along with that smores fudge cake!
